Justes B Labrador Retrievers, Reg.
Justes B Labrador Retrievers, Reg. was established in 1966 by Juxi Burr and husband Dan. Juxi’s life-long interest and involvement with dogs began with her mother, Kiku Kennedy.
In 1951, Kiku, husband Vern and their daughter Juxi, moved to New Mexico. Shortly after their arrival, they established New Mexico’s first boarding kennel – New Mexican Kennels. The kennel was built next to their home; an old sheepherders shack, located on the hilltop where it resides today. In 1970, Kiku and Vern passed the business down to Juxi, and son-in-law Dan; they enhanced the operation to one of the Top Rated Businesses in Albuquerque and set the standard for the industry within the state of New Mexico. New Mexican Kennels has since expanded and remains today, the oldest, and one of the most respected pet boarding facilities in New Mexico.
As a young woman, Juxi “cut her teeth” showing her mother’s Standard Poodles. Her mother, Kiku, discovered Labrador Retrievers while at a party, where she met several “Labs” mooching food from guests. It was love at first sight, and two weeks later, she acquired “Hexi,” a Labrador Retriever bitch. Growing up, Labradors became Juxi’s passion, and in 1966, she founded Justes B (pronounced “Justs B”) Labrador Retriever Kennel. The kennel name, Justes B Labrador Retrievers is duly registered with the American Kennel Club.

Obedience Training a Novice Beginners Guide
By Juxi Burr & W. “Robby” Robbins
“The Robbins/Kennedy/Burr relationship has a long history in “dogdom.” With this said, I am so pleased to have found Robby’s Booklet on Novice Obedience Training as he gave these booklets to his trainees and friends.
My mother, Kiku Kennedy, was a recipient of these booklets and fortunately, I had one on my bookshelf. I thank Robby for this wonderful “Obedience Bible” as the old techniques of training are still the core of how dogs are trained today. While Robby is no longer with us, the work and his basic techniques are still relevant today. Yes, research has discovered many new and rewarding things about our canine friends, but the basics on how we train and handle dogs are still very much in place.”
