Feline Lodging FAQs

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Our temporary hours due to the COVID 19 pandemic are Monday – Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. Sundays by appointment. If you need to deliver or pick up your pet outside of these hours, we will try to accommodate you. You can make arrangements for special pick up/delivery during our business hours, or after hours call, (505) 250-7044 and leave a message. Your call will be returned within 24-hours.

The following hours will be resumed when the State of New Mexico’s Health Department deems it safe for people in our state to conduct “business as usual.”

We are open Mon – Friday from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday from 3:00 pm -6:00 pm.

For check-in, we prefer pets to arrive no later than 5:00 pm so they can settle in for the evening. We encourage our customers to schedule their check-in time when making their reservation, to reduce any wait times for you and your pet. This is especially helpful during busy times such as holidays.

Check-out time without additional charges is 12:00 noon. You may check out at no additional charge during the following hours:

Monday – Friday: 7:30 am and 12:00 pm

Saturday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Sunday you are always charged a full-day of lodging which includes check-out up until 12:00 noon on Monday. We are open from 3:00 pm  – 6:00 pm on Sunday should you wish to pick up your pet during these hours.

Can I tour your facility?

We welcome you to visit anytime during regular business hours. Our Customer Service staff will be delighted to take you on an informative tour of the public areas of New Mexican Kennels.

When do I pay for services?

Services are due in full at check-out.

We accept all major credit cards.

Do you charge a cancellation fee?

Please see our Cancellation Policy listed below.

Because we schedule our staff and assign lodging based on the number of pets in-house, at any given time, if you fail to show up for a scheduled Reservation or fail to cancel a reservation within our published timelines, we are adversely affected.

Our Reservation intake process requires a valid credit card to be included in your customer profile.

Cancellation Policy: Your credit card will be charged a cancellation fee if:

If you fail to arrive on the date scheduled, or if you fail to cancel a Reservation with a 24-hour notice, your credit card will be charged $36. The exception to this policy is during Winter Holidays, where a $50 deposit is required to hold a Reservation. During this time, if you fail to arrive as scheduled or fail to provide a 72-hour Notice of Cancellation, your deposit will be retained.

We accept all major credit cards.

Can I bring my cat's own food

As a value-added service, you may bring your cat’s PRE-PACKAGED individual serving of food for each day, at no extra charge. If for some reason, you don’t pre-package your cat’s food, we’re happy to accommodate you at an additional charge of $3.50 per day for this service, which helps to offset the extra time it takes our staff to prepare your pet’s meals.

What brand of food do you feed?

New Mexican Kennels is unique in our approach to feeding our lodgers. To please the sophisticated palette of our feline lodgers, we offer the finest, all-natural food from a variety of cat food brands that we stock in our pet supply store, Pawticulars.

Super Premium Meal Choices for Your Feline Friend

  • PURE VITA/Grain Free

If you are unsure which brand is best for your cat, one of our Customer Care Specialists will happily assist you.

Finicky eater? You’re welcome to bring your cat’s own food.

You are welcome to provide your cat’s regular food. In order to avoid an extra charge, please pre-pack each meal into individual bags or provide enough cans for your kitty’s stay. Thank you.

We normally feed 2 meals per day in the AM and PM. However, arrangements can be made if your pet has special requirements. We will feed up to 3 x per day at no extra charge. Special feeding requirements are available, however, a small service charge may apply.

It is recommended you limit the amount of food you provide your pet on the day of check-in due to the natural excitement your pet may experience upon arrival. Likewise, food and water should be limited for the first hour or two after your pet arrives home. This will allow your pet ample time to settle in before feeding.

What vaccinations do you require?

All feline guests must have current vaccinations for the following:

  • Rabies
  • FVRCP: Also known as Feline Distemper, requires a composite vaccine that protects against a set of viruses; Feline Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper), Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Chlamydiosis.
  • Feline Leukemia, or a negative Leukemia test from a veterinarian

Proof of vaccinations from a veterinarian is required from each of our guests before admittance can be allowed. If your pet requires an updated vaccination please make arrangements for the vaccination to be administered no less than 24-hours prior to your pet’s arrival.

Can I bring my cat's bed and toys?

Albuquerque’s City Ordinance 9-2-2-4 requires that all bedding be washed daily, so we do not allow customers to bring their pet’s bedding. We find that your own bedding may not fit into our washer, or may become damaged or lost. We provide a double-sided fleece mat made in the USA from synthetic lamb’s wool for your pet to sleep on.

You can bring two of your pet’s favorite toys. We also carry a large selection of cat-safe toys in our store as well as treats.

What if my cat becomes sick?

There is no Veterinarian on premise. Should your pet not feel well, we will attempt to contact you, your emergency contact and your veterinarian for instructions.

However, if no communication is possible, we will contact our regular daytime veterinarian or our 24-hour emergency veterinarian, both of whom we are affiliated.

We will notify you and your veterinarian of your pet’s situation at the earliest opportunity.

Can I board multiple cats together?

We have limited space for two cats sharing a condo. We recommend that you make reservations well in advance if possible to ensure space is available, especially during major holidays.
