Terms and conditions for Winter Holidays reservations:

How soon do I need to make reservations?

It’s never too early to make your reservations. We recommend making your kennel reservations at the same time as you book flights and hotels. Busy travel weekends also mean busy kennel weekends. Generally speaking, a window of 7-10 days is best. However, please note that holiday reservations are full up to a full two months ahead of time.

New Mexican Kennels offers several optional cat activities to suit your feline’s personality. In addition, cats can stretch and roam around our Kitty Playroom during a pampered pet session. We even offer our outdoor Kitty Strolls in Pavlov’s Garden for cats that are leash trained.

Can I board my kitten?

Yes, however, cats and kittens must have their completed vaccinations for Feline Distemper, Rabies and Feline Leukemia or a negative Leukemia test from a veterinarian in order to stay at New Mexican Kennels. Please speak to your veterinarian regarding the appropriate age requirements for receiving vaccinations.

Can I bring my own food?

Can I make a reservation online?

You may use our online reservation to make a reservation. But please be aware that ALL reservations must be confirmed either by telephone with our Customer Care Specialists or in person at New Mexican Kennels.

If you need more information please fill in the form here and a Customer Care Specialist will contact you directly.

Do you have extra exercise or playtime sessions for cats?

We offer a number of activities for your cat. Please view our Feline Activities page for more details.

How am I charged for boarding?

The rates at New Mexican Kennel work just like a hotel. You are always charged for the day that you bring your pet in, regardless of the time of day. On the day of pick-up, if you arrive by 12:00 pm, you will not be charged for lodging that day. However, you are charged for a full day’s lodging on Sunday since we are open from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Or, you may pick your pet up on Monday by 12:00 pm at no extra charge. If your pet is in grooming on the day of departure, you will incur the grooming charges for that day, not an additional day of boarding.

I am really nervous, as my cat has never boarded before.

As a result of the special hands-on care, comfortable accommodations, competent & well trained staff, the quality of the facility, and the amount of personalized activities we offer, our guests adapt very well and enjoy the wonderful experience of being part of our family. If you have any concerns, we can certainly recommend a complimentary visit to help.

I have multiple cats. Can they board together?

Absolutely! Cats of the same family can certainly share accommodations. New Mexican Kennels offers accommodations that are comfortable and spacious for two cats to share a condo.

My cat does not eat any of the brands of food you offer.

Most cats do very well on our food, but if they require a special diet, you should make arrangements to bring in their own food from home. To avoid an extra fee, your cat’s food must be packaged in individual meals or cans.

What about toys and treats?

We recommend that you do not bring anything for your cat. We carry an array of “pet safe” toys in our boutique that you can purchase at check in. You may also bring enough treats for your cat’s stay with us. We do ask that quantities be appropriate.

What happens if my cat needs veterinary care?

If your pet should require medical attention while in our care, our customary procedure is to contact your veterinarian, depending on the illness and the travel required to access your veterinarian. Should the nature of your pet’s illness require an office visit, we reserve the right to utilize one of our 24-hour on-call veterinarians.

What should I do to prepare for my cat’s reservation?

All activity requests should be made when booking your reservation. Vaccination records for new lodgers or those whose vaccinations have expired should be faxed over before arrival. Adequate telephone numbers should be provided in case we need to contact you. Any special diets or medications should be clearly communicated to your Customer Care Representative upon check in, along with a pick up time for your cat. All amenities are provided: litter box, litter, bowls, and bedding-no need to bring any of these items.
