My name is Lovely.

“My name is Lovely and that's exactly what I am! I'm a sweet little sandy colored girl with a lot of love to share. Sadly, my owner passed away recently so me and my feline companions were brought to Animal Humane to find new homes.

**I LIKE GENTLE, RESPECTFUL KIDS!** Because of my love for attention I would be great for a family with respectful, mellow kids that understand I prefer attention on my own terms. I am sensitive about being handled and I'd prefer not to be squeezed, grabbed, pulled or picked up. So if you have young children, I'm probably not the best match for you. However if you have older kids who understand they can't play rough with me or try to pick me up like a toy, I may do just fine. So, it's always best to bring your kids in to meet me before you take me home just to make sure we will all get along. In fact, Animal Humane requires it.

**I LIKE RESPECTFUL DOGS!** In my previous home I lived peacefully with smaller to medium sized dogs, so I would probably do fine in a home with a smaller, mellow, respectful dog that has already lived peacefully with cats before. Just remember that I will need a fair amount of time to adjust.

**I LIKE OTHER CATS!** I lived peacefully with other cats so I would probably do great in a home with other friendly cats if I am given a fair amount of time to adjust to them. **ATTENTION!** Cats living in multiple cat homes do not like having to share just one litter box. This is a totally normal behavior for all domestic cats!!! As a general rule, animal behavior experts urge cat owners to always provide a separate, clean, non-covered litter box for EACH cat living in the home to help avoid house soiling issues.

**IF YOU HAVE OTHER PETS AND ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ME** Please understand that it will take patience and understanding on your part during the first couple of weeks while I settle in and adjust to all of these big life changes ; new people, new home, new schedule, and possibly new pets... just imagine how stressful that must be! Animal Behavior experts agree that adopters should expect and prepare for a minimum 3-4 week adjustment period.
We urge adopters to provide an initial 3-7 days of confinement of their new cat in a private area (like a spare bedroom, office, laundry room, etc.) away from the other pets immediately upon arrival to their new home. This way the new pet has time to adjust to you as well as all the new sounds and smells of your home before it takes on the potentially stressful task of meeting and building a relationship with your other pets who are probably also stressed about the presence of a newcomer in their territory.**

We have partnered with the Animal Humane Cats Around Town program. Each month we foster a new cat that is in need of a home. Cats stay with us while looking for a new home. Each potential adopter is screened by a call to the Animal Humane Association office. Once approved by their adoption counselors we handle the rest of the adoption. All of the needed paperwork is filled out here and you can take your new feline friend home that same day.
- All cats are spayed or neutered.
- Up to date on shots.
- Licensed with the City of Albuquerque.
- Microchipped.
- Each cat also has a recyclable carrier to travel with you to their new home.
